Pollstar Live 2013: What We Learned

Several members of the Etix team spent part of last week in sunny Los Angeles. No, they weren’t living it up at The GRAMMY Awards and parties (that we know of); they were at Pollstar Live, meeting with clients, discussing the industry with other pros and sitting in on panels and presentations.

While there were many great nuggets of information gleaned from the conference, what really stuck with our team members, especially Tawn Albright, was the keynote presentation from Seth Godin.

What really struck us about Seth’s speech was his idea that in order to really break out of the norm, you need to find your art and nurture it. It’s your art that will set you apart.

We found our art two years ago, and we’ve spent every day since building it.

Two years ago we were looking to the future of ticketing and we realized that digital marketing (e.g., websites, social, email) was going to become more and more important for our clients in regards to selling tickets and building their brands. We purchased Nashville-based digital marketing agency Rockhouse Partners in 2011, and they’ve been helping our clients optimize their digital campaigns ever since.

Digital marketing is our art. It is what is breaking us out of the box and past the competition. Rockhouse Partners won’t just build you a website and let you have at it (unless that’s all you want). If you need some extra digital help, a team member at Rockhouse can manage your email campaigns, run your social feed, optimize your website, help you with contesting and more.

They’re a full-service digital agency with real people who can supply support when needed, and they’re here for our clients.

With the 2014 Pollstar Live taking place in Nashville, TN — Rockhouse territory — we’re looking forward to increasing our involvement at the conference, and in the industry as a whole.
